Let’s Clean-Up Irondequoit!

Everyone likes to see our neighborhoods looking nice, but what can we do about it? You can help make Irondequoit cleaner and more beautiful! Color Irondequoit Green is joining with Irondequoit United Church of Christ to schedule 2 community clean-up events this autumn! We hope to get great turnouts at both events. Bring along a friend or two! Children are encouraged to join us as long as they have proper supervision.

IUCC has partnered with Walking for Rochester on previous occasions, including in August, when IUCC hosted a cleanup of the Cooper/Titus/Hudson area. At that event, roughly 20 volunteers spent an hour picking up trash totaling 120 pounds!

Walking for Rochester is a local non-profit which organizes regular, volunteer-powered clean-ups throughout the Rochester area. WfR provides all of the supplies volunteers need (including buckets, gloves, and grabber tools) and tracks the amount of litter collected. Their 2026 volunteers have already removed more than 10,000 pounds of litter from Rochester and surrounding towns!

The first event hosted by IUCC and CIG this fall will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Please show up at 9:45 a.m. to obtain your equipment and sign in. This event lasts for one hour. 

The second event will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 10:00 a.m. This event will not be held in partnership with Walking for Rochester, so we will not be able to provide equipment for everyone. Please bring your own gloves and buckets, if you have them. We may stay longer than an hour if there is enough to do!

Participants for both events will meet in the parking lot at the Irondequoit Community Center (Mall) so that we will have plenty of area to cover, including Goodman Street and E. Ridge Road! Look for us on the end closer to Target. Dress for the weather…hopefully we will have a beautiful day! If the weather is horrible, the event will be cancelled.
